Elizma obtained her degree in BSc Entomology at the University of Pretoria in 2004. She started her career as a Research Technician at the Agricultural Research council, Cedara, in 2007. Elizma then made a slight career change and taught English in Taiwan in 2010. In 2011, Elizma discovered the pig industry and became laboratory manager and technician of the PIC Gene Transfer Centre in Middelburg. Elizma is responsible for managing and running the GTC centre, and alongside Marissa, evaluates and processes boar semen, manages staff as well as the boar house and ensures strict bio-security. Elizma also presents the Pig Artificial Insemination courses hosted by ALZU Pig Genetics t/a PIC South Africa.
